On May 14th, 2018, Prof. JIANG Zehui, Director General of ICBR and Co-Chair of INBAR Board of Trustees, led a Chinese delegation in forestry science and technology to the University of Lisbon (ULisboa), Portugal. Prof. JIANG and Prof. António Cruz Serra, Dean of ULisboa, signed a general cooperation agreement between ICBR and the University. Within the framework of this agreement, the two sides will carry out interdisciplinary scientific research cooperation in the fields of green cities, sustainable development and ecosystem’s sustainable management and utilization.
After the signing ceremony, the two sides had an in-depth academic exchange. Representatives from ULisboa introduced the University's disciplinary expansion following its merger with the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon in 2013 and the University’s College Food, Farming and Forestry, a newly established research unit for interdisciplinary studies, and shared with the delegation its multi-disciplinary research centered on green cities. Prof. JIANG reviewed past cooperation with the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon and introduced ICBR’s significant research achievements in recent years. The two sides discussed future cooperation according to the agreement and reached a consensus on starting the collaboration with the fields of cork oak processing and utilization, eco-friendly bamboo-wood composite building materials, bamboo and rattan cultivation and forest city development.
