On May 18th, 2018, Prof. JIANG Zehui, Director General of ICBR and Co-Chair of INBAR Board of Trustees, led a Chinese delegation in forestry science and technology to the Institute of Wood Research, Thunen Institute, Germany for academic exchanges. On behalf of the President of the Thunen Institute, Prof. Matthias Dieter, Director of the Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and gave a brief introduction of the structure and research fields of the Thunen Institute. Dr. Johannes Welling, Acting Director of the Institute of Wood Research, introduced his Institute’s main fields of activity, the partnership with the Institute of Wood Science of the University of Hamburg, and shared his vision for future cooperation with ICBR in the field of bamboo and rattan. Prof. JIANG reviewed past Sino-German exchanges in bamboo, rattan and forestry and introduced the important achievements in the science and technology of bamboo and rattan in recent years. She was pleased to see that bamboo and rattan resources are attracting the interest of more and more scientists and believed that the signing of an MoU between ICBR and the Thunen Institute will lead to efficient S&T cooperation.
After the meeting, Prof. Jiang Zehui and Prof. Folkhard Isermeyer, President of the Thunen Institute signed the MOU between ICBR and the Thunen Institute.
